Dancing stories of Immigration- Creative Process with Gabriela Rehak
In this active keynote, participants will engage with a creation process using on the spot collaboration between dancers and choreographer, improvisation and a variety of choreographic devices. Gabriela will share her process of creating Deep Roots , a dance based on the struggles of families immigrating to Canada. Participants will be asked if they have any stories relating to this subject that they feel comfortable sharing, and this may then be used as inspiration for movement. This process will also include live and recorded music. This morning will allow time for possible reflection questions - How can I use this process in my own classroom? How was this different/same to my own creative process? What is it like to work with stories of people in the room?  How did having live music affect this process for me?
Bring your open mind and body for a morning of rich creation.
(Active participation with option to observe)

Along with her role as Director, Ms. Gingras is also part of the faculty of the Ballet Academic Program, RWB School Professional Division. In partnership with National Ballet School since 2015, Ms. Gingras has been involved with developing resources and lead the sharing dance programs at RWB.
